Destinations

Post 16 Destinations

At St Hugh’s, we work closely with students, families, colleges, employers and other
professionals to ensure that every young person moves on to a positive and appropriate
destination. Success looks different for every student, and our aim is to help every
student achieve the highest possible level of independence and fulfilment. We monitor
post-16 destinations as one measure of the effectiveness of our Careers Programme and
to help us continually improve our provision.
Students from St Hugh’s move on to a range of destinations including:

  • Further Education Colleges
  • Sixth Form Colleges
  • Specialist Colleges
  • Supported Internships
  • Employment (where appropriate)
  • Social Care and Community Provision
  • Adult Day Opportunities
  • Independent and Supported Living Pathways

Transition planning begins well before students leave St Hugh’s. Through EHCP reviews, Preparing for Adulthood planning, careers guidance and close partnerships with families and providers, we ensure every student is well prepared for the next stage of their education and adult life.

Alumni

We enjoy hearing from former students and celebrating their achievements after leaving St Hugh’s. Alumni visits, employer talks and success stories help inspire current students and demonstrate the many different pathways into adulthood.

Several former students have progressed through the DFN Project SEARCH Supported Internship programmes delivered in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council, John Leggott College, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Trent View College. These programmes provide valuable workplace experience and help young people develop employability skills that can lead to sustained paid employment.
